sew clothes

I have been back home for quite some time now. My time in China has not come to an end, I am taking a break from living on the other side of the world. Sure, I loved it there, it was amazing and one of my dreams that came true! But Mom and Dad are here and I miss them. Of course, we need to leave the nest someday, right? I will, someday, which might be sooner than later. But for now, I am enjoying my parents’ company very much.

Oost, West, Thuis BEST!

Both Mom and Dad retired last year. Dad retired this year, I think in April. He worked a year longer than he was supposed to. Never have I met someone who loves to work as much as he does. Sometimes I wonder if he is content at home, just being… Dad. His job and career were very important to him and an integral part of him as a man and human being. But he seems content enough, so I am confident that he is transitioning well.

No unwanted messages, thank you! – Image Source

I have made some very drastic changes in my life. One day, I think it was somewhere in September, I just deactivated my Instagram account. OUT OF THE BLUE! Social media has never really been my thing, so I knew that day would come sooner or later. The only reason I started an Instagram account was to keep my family and friends informed about my life in China. Now that I am not there (for the time being), I see no need to maintain that account. Besides, I uploaded some pictures of myself and started receiving unwanted DMs. No thank you, I am not that desperate that I will just talk to anyone who feels like sliding into my DMs. Come to think of it, I MIGHT reactivate it again because my life here is very exciting at the moment. I am grateful and blessed to be doing and seeing so many amazing things, meeting new people and being a part of something very important. Even if it is just a small part, I am grateful!

Another thing I have added to my list of ‘New Things To Learn’: sew clothes!

I have always wanted to learn how to sew clothes. When I was younger, I used Mom her fabric to sew clothes for my dolls. Mom learned how to sew from her mother, who made clothes for all the kids. By the time Mom was old enough to take over, she took that responsibility upon her.

My aunties were always well-dressed! Gran taught Mom well, that I can assure you. But since she was not taught professionally, there are some things that she does not know how to do well. So we decided to do something together to work on our bond, and well… we are now learning how to sew clothes together.

What’s next, girl? Will you leave again?

I cannot tell you how many people have asked me this question. They are just interested and want to know which exciting thing I will do next, but to tell you the truth… until a few weeks ago, I had no fucking clue what was next for me. I talk more about it here.

Until next time, stay positive and spread LOVE! <3
