jazz festival

I have always loved music, I thank my parents for that. When I was a child my parents used to play music every single Sunday morning starting at 06:30. Back then I hated it because I hated their music, but before you knew it, I could not get enough of it! Before long I was the one looking up the CDs (yes, I am THAT old, LOL) and playing them for myself because I loved them!

What I am about to write has absolutely nothing to do with this topic, but I am blasting his music in my ears while writing this blog. I have developed an interest in Marilyn Manson. Yeah, I know, it sounds weird, but I have always loved his version of Tainted Love. Listening to that song, I somehow came across a few interviews he did. You will be surprised to read this, but I love his personality… or the glimpse he gave into who he is. He is who he is, take it or leave it. Anyway, back to the topic at hand: the Suriname Jazz Festival.

A friend of mine came to Suriname to perform during the jazz festival. I did not even know it was a thing.

I am not sure anymore, but I think I was still in China when he told me that he would be in my home country for a jazz festival. The festival was the same day as my friend, of twenty-something years, her baby shower. We have known each other for so long and now she is having her third child! I love that I am so blessed to see her life evolve, how she welcomes the next generation! <3

Back to the jazz festival: how did my friend and I meet?

I think it was a little over eight to nine years ago during my time at Surinam Airways. If you are interested in what I did there, I worked there as a Portuguese interpreter on the flights to Belem do Para. That was quite an adventure and I learned so much from my time there. Hian, my friend, was passing through Suriname from Cayenne. He and a band went there to play, do not know where nor for whom. But we met at the local airport. His band members were checking in, we started talking, added one another on Facebook and we have been in contact ever since.

Hian is an amazing musician!

The video above is one of the many videos I took during the festival. Hian is such a talent! Oh, I also made a new friend, the beautiful morena with the blonde locks! She is GORGEOUS! Her name is Ariel Moura, and she was a contestant on The Voice Brasil. If you can read Portuguese, please click on the links, you will love reading about her. Ariel is such a lovely young woman!

The night was wonderful, I had a great time spending time with both Hian and Ariel. For the fact that Hian and I have only seen each other twice, it did not feel awkward at all when we spent so much time together. Seeing him perform filled me with so much pride and joy!

In the first photo, I am with a friend of mine his brother, his name is Zabdai. I always doubt if he knows me, so I introduced myself to him and turns out he knew who I was, lol. Zabdai is so unique and I love him for that. He is unapologetically himself, no matter where he is. I can appreciate that and prefer to surround myself with people like him. The second and third pics of Hian and I. We took the pics with a Chinese app that makes you look more beautiful than you are, lol. These are some of the things I miss about China, LOL!

Here are some more videos of Ariel…

Until next time, stay positive and spread love! And get rid of those energy vampires, BLOCK them! <3
