When writing a book, you will need a great book cover designer. All readers judge the book by its cover, so your book cover designer better be great! If you’re an aspiring author like me, you know how long it can take to actually write and complete a book. I’ve been working on a few novels for more than ten years now, and I really think it’s time to finish one on the laptop. The problem is, is that I keep finishing them in my head. Seriously, I’ve finished all three books in my head. I don’t know why, but sitting down and making time to write is still a big problem for me.

Is it maybe because I tend to procrastinate? Well, maybe I will be more motivated if I have a great book cover… don’t ya think?

One novel I will finish first is the one I named after one of my favorite Lenny Kravitz songs. In case you don’t know, he is my forever husband. What’s the name of the song? Well, it’s A NEW DOOR. The novel is about a young woman who is tired of continuously falling for the wrong men for her, so she decides to take a look in the mirror. It’s easy to blame the men for all the shit that happens in relationships, I know because I did that. But the heroine in my book is smart: When she changed how she looked at herself and relationships, she also changed the way she treated herself and how she chose her boyfriends. Now, I think it’s a topic most of us women can relate to, right? So what I need to do now is find a great book cover designer.

I came across this picture when I googled ‘bad book cover design’ and stumbled upon that website that’s in the photo description. The blogger really tore up those book covers. I seriously didn’t see anything wrong with some of them, but the blogger is an expert, so he/she knows what to look for. This is one of the book covers I saw absolutely nothing wrong with, but then again, I’m not the expert. Sigh… To be honest, I am kind of concerned if I’ll be able to find a great book cover designer. Maybe I can find some great suggestions on Writer’s Digest of on Joanna Penn her website.

Thus began my hunt for the best book cover designers on Twitter. While researching the Internet, I came across EbookLaunch, Deranged Doctor Designs, and Willow Raven.

I really loved the covers EbookLaunch makes, but Deranged Doctor Designs is also very good. One blogger I connected with, Peiri Ann, and I loved them! I compared the prices of both EbookLaunch and Deranged Doctor; I will get more for my money if I go with Deranged Doctor. Since I am still on a budget, Deranged Doctor it is!  If EbookLaunch also starts to offer Facebook headers, blogging headers, Twitter headers, and banners for the same price, I’ll definitely want to work with them in the near future! I didn’t consider Willow Raven, because I feel like playing her covers; they remind me of The Sims. Not being mean, Willow. I love the game, just not on a book cover. Got me thinking about the Sookie Stackhouse covers; I LOVE the books, but I HATE the covers!

Do you know of any other good book cover designers? I would love to see if there’s another out there that offers the same services as Deranged Doctor.

Take care! šŸ˜€
