Updates, updates, updates! What have I been up to lately? A slight case of food poisoning (what else is new?), going to class every morning and some afternoons, teaching English and Spanish, and trying to remember all of the new words they keep shoving down my throat. I love learning Chinese, it’s one of the most interesting languages on the planet. Well, at least I think so.
Every single day is a new challenge! REALLY! We learn so many new words daily. The first two years, I already was bombarded with new words on a daily basis. Thought it would get easier in my third year, but NOPE! I am now learning Business Chinese, Geography, History, Chinese Literature… *sigh* Midterms are coming up, and I have no idea where to start! My Chinese Literature book is sooo difficult! Last year, I thought my Reading Comprehension book was kicking my ass. Well, this year’s Chinese Literature book is a whole new can of Chinese language whoop ass!
What other updates? Well… Guess who came to lunch?
Well, not that the person came to lunch, more like we went out to have lunch together. I had lunch with my ex-roommate! For those of you familiar with the story, our relationship didn’t end well. We drove each other crazy for the eleven days we lived together. If you don’t know what happened, read part one here, part two here. Though I DEFINITELY am the type of person that will cuss you, yo momma, and all yo great-grand-mommas out if you come looking for it, I still don’t like it. Believe me, I will read you better than a bestselling Paulo Coelho book. Don’t start with me, because you better be able to finish it. But, I don’t like the person I turn into when I allow myself to get angry.
I brought my ex-roommate a fruit basket, but she wasn’t home.
Left the fruit with her new roommate, a Filipina police officer. I had no idea if she would accept it, or not. But guess what? She did! The next day, she came to my room with a cake. We made an appointment to meet one another for lunch the next day, have a little chat. During lunch, we talked about what happened between us. I told her that I still think she’s a cheapskate, but I don’t think she’s a bad person. My problem wasn’t with her, but with her cheap ways. We squashed the “beef”, LOL! She’s also part of the Bible study group.
Other updates? I went to an English Club last Friday. It was SO MUCH FUN!
A couple of months ago, I was a judge at an English Speaking Competition. The students liked me so much, that they invited me to their English Club meeting. I had such an amazing time! We played Charades. I had to dance like Michael Jackson, LOL! Though my attempt at the Moon Walk was nothing to write home about, I still had so much fun! I was so giddy on my way home.
I also got my nails did! Yes, I did! It’s very important to me to take care of myself. The past couple of months, I realize I’m taking better and better care of myself. The girl that does my name talks A LOT! She means well, but sometimes, she drives me crazy! Mainly because “WHY?” is her favotire word.
PingZi talks a lot, but we have a great time together after she takes my money, LOL! Sometimes, I spend hours talking to her. It’s a good way to practice my listening comprehension, because she talks fast! Rattles! At times, I just say, “Ah” or “Uhu”, then she realizes I haven’t understood a word, LOL! She’s a nice person.
I have to go now. Have an early class. Take care and be safe!
PS: Remember to make your dreams come true!
