Study Mode ON! I am back for another year of Chinese Language Studies. Looking back to my first year, I have to say I’m really proud of myself for how far I’ve come. I went from only understanding my name, to reading, speaking, writing, and expressing myself in Chinese! God is great, for I have come a long way!

This year I will study the importance of China’s history and geography. I’ve been looking forward to this for a while!

I really have come a long way! Last week I had my first 外贸口语 class. It’s all about business and international trade. In case you didn’t know, I’m not a fan of numbers or anything that has to do with numbers. “Accountant” or “Mathematician” are things I knew I’d never become. Not that I can’t do it, it’s just not for me. I like things simple. If I have to spend more than thirty minutes to solve something, it’s not worth my time. What do I love, something I don’t mind spending more than thirty minutes on? LANGUAGE LEARNING!

Will you believe me if I tell you, I understood what my Business Chinese teacher was talking about?

He talked about a lot of things, and I understood it! I noticed he is a fan of numbers, likes to calcuate everything. Even THAT I understood! For the first time in my life, I understood the importance of all of those GDP and whatnot numbers… and it was in CHINESE! In Dutch, I’d already given up trying to understand what they meant (A LONG TIME AGO!). I feel so smart now, LOL!

I still can’t believe that I have ONE MORE YEAR TO GO until I graduate! ONE MORE YEAR! It seems like yesterday that I first embarked on my journey. Life has been good to me, I am grateful for that. I am even more thankful for the many more great years yet to come! *Thinking* … Has life really been good to me (just the past few years) or have I changed the way I looked at things? Food for thought.
