Myself… In the words of Joan Armatrading: “Me, Myself, I!” I love me some ME! I never liked being by myself, the silence was too loud. But when I reached the age of twenty-five, I realized I needed to change the way I looked at things. A couple of years ago, I was one of those negative people that experienced every single thing as… well … NEGATIVE.
A couple of days before I left, I decided to go to dinner (again) all by myself.
I had a long day at work, taught from 09:00 until 20:30. There were breaks, of course, but I was TIRED! In life, I think it’s important to spoil yourself from time to time. So, why not take myself to dinner? Though I was tired, I was looking forward to my alone time.
I like the way they decorated the place, it’s absolutely GORGEOUS! So creative! Have no idea what Rudolph and his brothers are doing there, but hey… It’s China. What do I mean by that? Since they don’t celebrate Christmas, they might not know they’re Christmas decorations. They might just be thinking, “Hey, I like this. Let’s put it up!”
Have no idea why, But Leo’s is growing on me. I think I will definitely be back for more. The service is great, which cannot be said for Paradiso. If you want them to refill your water glass or take your order, you have to YELL to get their attention. What I also didn’t like about Paradiso, is that the staff don’t even know what their own food tastes like.
I don’t mind spending money (on certain things). If you listen to my boyfriend, he will tell you that I like spending (his) money a little too much, LOL! Don’t drink the kool-aid, he’s just one of the founding fathers of the word we now know as “STINGY.”
When it comes to spending money on myself, I’m not stingy (when it comes to certain things).
For instance, I will never spend more than US$500 on a mobile phone. In my opinion, a phone should be simple. I should be able to make/receive calls, e-mails, post on IG, Facebook and InstaGram. The rest is for my laptop. If I spend that amount on a phone, it better come with a personal chef and chauffeur. I’m kind of old-fashioned, some people say “tech challenged,” so I want certain gadgets for certain things. Believe it or not, I’ve never owned an iPad, never bought an iPhone… I’m not into brands or getting the latest of the latest. I’m really simple when it comes to certain things.
Anyway, back to my dinner with Me, Myself & I. The first time there, I had a different kind of spaghetti. As I’ve stated in a previous post, I want to try Leo’s entire menu.
Their spaghetti is definitely better than the one I tried at Strada 22. Leo’s is also friendlier to your wallet. Strada 22 is overpriced, the bread they gave us to munch on was STALE, and the waiter hit on me. I didn’t have this problem at Leo’s. There are two things I dislike when going out to dinner:
- when the staff doesn’t know what their own food tastes like
Usually when I go to a restaurant, I ask the staff what they recommend. I’m always in the mood to try something new, so why not ask the people who are there most of the day? I HATE IT when I ask them, “What do you recommend?” and they answer, “I have no idea what the food tastes like.” Just want to slap them!
- when the staff hit on me
Some people think that, because you’re dining by yourself, you’re lonely and need to be entertained. No, no. If I wanted some entertainment, I’d go some place entertaining and pay for it.
I will definitely go back to this restaurant. Next time, I will take a picture of their menu and try every single item. If you are ever in Xiamen, you will know where to eat and what to order.
